Choke Manifold

1. Application

Choke manifold is a necessary device in the process of blowout control and implementation of oil and gas pressure control technology. In case that the BOP is off, the pressure at the bottom of well shall be kept higher than formation pressure through controlling casing pressure with choke valve on-off. Additionally, soft shut-in can be realized through relieving pressure with choke manifold in the process of well shut-in. When pressure in well rech at extreme limitation,it can be used to prevent blowout and protect wellhead.

Choke and Kill Manifold is used to control well kick and pressure. In case of well kick or blowout, Choke Manifold may control downhole pressure by valves open/close. Heavy slurry may be pumped into well by Kill Manifold to reach pressure balance. Besides, Choke Manifold can be applied to well cleanup and blow-off.

2. Configuration

Choke manifold consists of four manual gate valves (also called diamont choke manifold, five gate valves if a bypass valve is included). It is used to control the flow rate and reduces well pressure before the flow enters the processing equipment. The maniflod also includes a positive choke box, an adjstable choke, and several pressure or sampling ports and thermowells to monitor pressure, temperature, and fluid characteristics.

3. Working Principle

When well pressure rises, the choke valve (it falls into three kinds: Manually adjustable, hydraulic and positive) on choke manifold can be turned on and off to release the fluid to control casing pressure. Gate valve can be used for direct blowout. When casing pressure is pretty high,

4. Operating Instructions of Our Choke Manifold:

1. The line pipe shall be level and straight as much as it could. In case of the turn of the line pipe, the 120 degree steel bent pipe shall be used. The bore of the line pipe shall be large enough.
2. The pressure gauge must be installed.
3. The working pressure of all components on the choke manifold shall be compatible with that of the BOP stack used.
4. The choke manifold shall be installed at the place where the operator can reach it easily. The pressure test must be performed prior to installation and the seat test pressure shall be equal to the rated working pressure.
5. In winter, the choke manifold can work under a low temperature condition.
